It’s busy around here, everyone has different schedules, activities, and while sometimes I’m on top of meal planning and prep, other times, I simply don’t have enough time to pull it all together. This weekend our son and his wife came for a visit. In between my new work schedule and their impromptu visit, I needed something delicious, fulfilling and quick for lunch.
So I headed to Walmart’s Deli Department for some of their effortless, prepared, quick meals. They have a wide selection of foods like rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, and pizza. I grabbed two extra large pizzas, a 6-pack of Coca-Cola, a 6-pack of Sprite (my son’s fave) and some cheesy breadsticks, all ready to heat.
If there’s one meal we love to share together, it is most definitely pizza. It was nice to have him “home” for a visit, it always reminds me of when he was still living at home. Talking, playing games, watching movies, and lots of laughs that I could actually take part in.
During the holiday season, family is most important, and no one should go without, that’s why the initiative between Coca Cola at Walmart and Salvation Army is pretty fantastic. During the months of November and December, when your family purchases a Walmart Deli prepared meal with Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola at Walmart will provide a meal to families through The Salvation Army. So families in need will be able to enjoy a warm meal together during the holidays too!
If you couldn’t tell, these these two are the men in my life, my husband and my son, donning the big cheese for this meat pizza. They’re such a fun pair to be around and our quick meal allowed for more time in their presence.
Now that bellies are full and satisfied, the kitchen cleared, and the bottles empty, we took to the kitchen for a fun little project to prepare for the holidays. While you may recall seeing Soda Bottle Penguins on the blog before, we not only sat down together to create them, we filled them with lots of happiness (a little bit of candy).
Give Happiness with Soda Pop Penguins
- Empty Soda Bottles with the tops cut off (2 per penguin)
- Paint (black, white, pink, orange, gray/silver)
- Coordinating felt cut into a strip and fringed edges
- Paint Brush/pouncer
- Hot Glue
- Pom Pom
Cut tops off Soda Bottle, and insert two bottoms together.
Paint front white.
Paint rest of bottle black.
Paint top desired color hat.
Use Pouncer to paint the “fur” around the hat.
Paint eyes using the round tip of your paint brush, nose and rosy cheeks.
Hot glue pompom on top of “hat”, scarf and for me, little glasses.
Fill with Happiness! We filled our penguins with candy. In addition, on Thanksgiving we’ll be adding in one thing we’re grateful for and one thing we appreciate about each member of the family. Then we’ll open them on Christmas Eve and share what everyone wrote.
Times are hard which can make “giving” a bit challenging. But as we embark on the holidays, remember that it’s the little things that mean so much, like time together with family. #GiveHappiness with Coca-Cola at Walmart this holiday season.
