The world is full of negative noise. It surrounds us and starts to cloud our judgement and perception of self. We take these negative occurrences and start believing them. Not only do we start believing them, we start repeating them to ourselves allowing them to define us. Instead of positive affirmations, these negative words become our mantra.
You Do Not Define Me
As a mother of 3 gorgeously beautiful daughters, I don’t want them to see me struggle with negative self-image. Let alone struggle with it on their own. I encourage them to have a positive self-image. But it’s hard to silence, let alone muffle the outside, surrounding noise. We sometimes allow these words, attacks, and gross judgement of character to nestle their seeds in our hearts and minds. Little seeds are being scattered within our person. Watered by the negativity and the weeds begin to grow. Suddenly in full bloom is the negativity of the outside world. It’s stunting our personal growth due to the lack of fresh air, positive sunshine, and clean water. Why is it so easy for negativity to fester but positivity can’t go into full bloom?
Believe it or not, this very subject began as a conversation with my teenage daughters. The negative words you see surrounding “my person” are both words spoken to me or heard by my daughters. How gross is that? This is reality. This is life. This is how we treat people and how we treat ourselves. So today, we’re doing something different. Yes, still being attacked by negative noise, but we’re filling our hearts with positivity and self-love.
So today, I encourage you to listen to your heart. Do not let it become hardened by the outside influences of the world. Plant seeds of positive affirmations that will enable you to blossom to your fullest potential. I started by creating this image of myself and on my heart I wrote “I AM”… and then added 3 words that would erase and replace all of the noise I heard. God says “I love you just as you are, not for what you do”.
Go grab a piece of paper, a notebook, a journal or what ever you use to document your self-love journey, RIGHT NOW. At the top, write the words in bold I AM. On the lines that follow, fill the page up with positive words that describe or define who you are. You can be a thorough as you’d like. When you forget who or what you are, and need a reminder or a boost in positive energy, go back and read it again. Add to it as you discover more to love about yourself, but NEVER take away from it.
Silence the noise.
Repeat after me”You Do Not Define Me, I am (insert your positive affirmation)”.
Will you silence the noise and listen to your heart?
Fill you heart with positive affirmations that solidify the love that bring your spirit to full bloom.
I hope you’ll journal with me.
Even if you do or even if you don’t, please leave me a comment with one positive thing about you.
I’d love to hear from you.
