I used to struggle with the idea that I had to be, say, act, do, feel, believe, and create just like others do. If I did that then I’d be accepted, loved, appreciated, acknowledged, respected, etc. Oddly enough, years into battle with the person inside of my just dying to come out, I learned that if I would “just be me”, that was more than enough.
Just Be You
The first step is learning that in life, other than your faith, integrity and obeying the law. There are no rules! That means no one can tell you WHO to be. You are who you are. Because we are who we create ourselves to be. That’s right, you’re in control!
People will say things about you. Yes, words do hurt, insults, lies, tales, slurs, hate being slung, but the truth is this and always will be: No one has the ability to define you. You are who God created you to be and whom you believe yourself to be.
As a creative entrepreneur trying to find my place, space, and my shine, I’m met with resistance. The resistance is not from the outside world rejecting me or nay-saying me. The resistance comes from within. My constant need to look out at the world, not just compare. but assess my value on my ability to create what they create. How they create, how many fans, friends, likes, etc. The truth is we all have a contribution to this world that is rather valuable. It’s valuable because it is uniquely, authentically, unequivocally you.
Once you are able to learn, accept and just be you, nothing else in this world is going to hold you back. It all begins with you.
You can shine, when she shines too. You have to just be you!
4 Steps to Just Be
- Accept. Who you are. What you do. What you believe.
- Admit. You are valuable. You are radiant. You were meant to shine.
- Reject. Limitations, setbacks, doubts. Any idea, thought, comment, or notion that you are anything other than amazing.
- Just be. Be you, be amazing, be unique, be beautiful, be happy, be open, be-lieve in yourself. Everyone else is taken. YOU are more than enough.
Which of these 4 steps do you need to complete?
I’d love to hear where you are in the process.
