I am uniquely, beautifully, and wonderfully made. I know this without a doubt. But it is not because of my outward appearance, though I like to think, I’m nice to look at. I mean, I have good genes after all. But I honestly believe that “true beauty lies within”. I could be the most beautiful person, but if my insides don’t match, what does that make me? Vain maybe? No. I strive to be THE best possible version of myself, in everything that I am and everything that I do. Does that mean that I am perfect? No, it means that I am humbled by the opinions and compliments of others, but my opinions don’t always match those that are given. That’s one of the reasons why I believe that this self-love journey is important. Because when I’m in doubt, I remind myself who and what I am about. I remind myself how absolutely beautiful I am really and truly am.
With absolutely no filtering or editing, this is me, every single day. I could sit here and pick apart the things about me I don’t like. My thinning hair and eye brows, my snoz, my whispy flat hair, my lackluster smile… But I wouldn’t be loving myself, now would I? Because none of that really and truly matters at the end of the day. What matters most is how I feel, how I make people feel, how people remember me by, and the mark I leave on the earth.
As I reflect back on who I used to be, I was completely self-doubting. Completely un-inlove and un-involved with myself, I was my biggest hater. Now, I’d like to think that I exude a certain level of confidence while remaining humble. Today I wanted to explore further the traits I have, that I feel exemplify true beauty. I think in order to truly love thyself, you have to know thyself.
