“Bloom Where You Are Planted”, insightful words quoted throughout time as a means to inspire others. When Buby brought home this completed plant assignment, I knew it was one that I’d want to document. Her overall growth since starting Kindergarten is amazing. Ironically, the quote I had in mind for her “art” was both literal and figurative.
What does it mean to bloom where you are planted? Take in all that life has to offer at this very moment and turn it into life experiences that you can learn and grow from as a person. It starts with positivity! Every flower must grow through dirt. Life has a way of throwing curve-balls, not everything is going to run as smoothly as you’d hope. But in order to bloom, keep your outlook positive.
|Ways to Bloom Where You are Planted|:
Embrace opportunities. Explore your surroundings. Give back to your community. Cherish friendships and familial relationships. Spend time with loved ones. Find beauty in ordinary things. Memorize and recite the serenity prayer. Acceptance of what is and what isn’t, what can and can’t be, and what you will and what you won’t. Try new things. Create things. Connect with people. Smile. Laugh. Take risks.
Bloom Where You Are Planted Art Journaling
I had so much fun incorporating Buby’s art into my journaling. With just a few inky materials, it turned into a beautifully documented piece of art.
- White Cardstock
- Jumbo Design Wheels: Wordwords
- Jumbo Rollagraph® Self-inking Handle
- Colorbox® Archival Dye Inkpad by Stephanie Barnard: Licorice
- Smooch Spritz®: Splash
- Izink – Distributed by Clearsnap®: Caviar
- Printed Focus Word (Different Fonts)
- Tape Adhesive
- Teresa Collins Matchbook Sticker Alphas
- Gold Glitter Washi
- Black and White Thin Washi
- ColorBox® Cleaning Pad
Start by cutting down white cardstock to fit onto the journal page.
Adhere to page.
Next, use the Wordwords Jumbo Design Wheel loaded with Colorbox® Archival Dye Inkpad by Stephanie Barnard in Licorice. Roll onto white cardstock until fully covered.
Immediately use ColorBox® Cleaning Pad to remove archival dye from the design wheel.
Next adhere focus image onto page.
Drip Izink – Distributed by Clearsnap® in Caviar randomly onto page. Allow to dry as is or smooth down with a paper towel.
Spray Smooch Spritz® in Splash onto a scrap piece of paper and blend in a little water. Use splash to enhance color in image (as needed), then using a paint brush create splatter marks onto page.
Adhere focus words and Alphas onto large Caviar drops.
Add sentiment handwritten, printed or a combination of the two to the focus image.
Add some gold glitter and black/white striped washi for accent.
Journal on the opposing side.
Create to inspire, it’s what I do. I had no idea that Buby’s homework could be anymore amazing. But I love the result. Playing with ClearSnap® ColorBox® Inks knows no limits. I look forward to trying out different projects and techniques.
