Choose your focal point and prepare. In this case, I wanted to use an amazing capture from our last beach trip. It was the perfect image to use with the quote “we rise by lifting others”. After a bit of creative editing, I knew I wanted to use it. I also prepared some tropical leaf die cuts that I thought would pair nicely. I also considered two techniques for the card base and background that I knew would be hit or miss. But you won’t know unless you try, right? Lastly, I chose coordinating chalk ink colors for this project. Because I didn’t have all of the colors I needed, I knew I’d have to do a little bit of blending colors.
Gather materials. Now that you’ve planned your card/focal point, gather the materials you’ll need. By doing ahead of time, you’ll not only simplify the process, but it will keep you from becoming overwhelmed. Trust me, you’ll NEED to do this step.
Test techniques. Stamp chalk ink colors directly onto clear acetate sheet. Using the Izink Spray – Distributed by Clearsnap® filled with water, and spray generously all over the ink. Blending in with your finger tips.
Layer the Tropical ColorBox® Art Screen directly onto the white cardstock. Press blended moistened inked clear acetate sheet onto the the art screen.
Repeat the steps above, but without the art screen. Blending the chalk ink with water. Then, pressing it onto a plain piece of 8 x 11 white cardstock . This will create the marbled chalk ink background.
Before adhering the layers. Dab the darkest shade onto an art dauber and ink the edges of your Tropical Leaf Die Cuts. Create a beautiful array of layers that is pleasing to your eye. I started by layering the die cuts. Then I layered on the art screened paper, and then top the image with the quote. Using staples to add a bit of interest.
This Inspirational Marbled Chalk Ink Card turned out beautifully. I cannot wait to send it out to that special someone.
