Life can be completely unreasonable, am I right? Like we expect it to go OUR way, and then it goes in the complete opposite direction. Like who is in control here? If you thought it was you, well you have been misinformed. Yes, we like to plan. We plan like crazy, but the truth is, life is a series of plot twists. Laugh. When life goes in the opposite direction of which you thought you were headed, just laugh.
I tend to be one of those people who takes live literally, figuratively, and way too seriously. I overthink, interpret, and stress beyond imaginable belief. There I was drinking my
first cup of coffee for the day and reading an excerpt from the Jesus Calling Daily Devotional. It literally read “Learn to Laugh at yourself more freely. Don’t take yourself or your circumstances so seriously. Relax and know that I am God with you.”…
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25
Laugh At Yourself
Now this is not a new concept, my husband tells me this ALL the time to lighten up. Stop taking everything so seriously. Listen to yourself, don’t YOU always say “EVERYTHING happens for a reason”. It is so true. If that isn’t truth, then I don’t know what is truth. But my intention here was not to get biblical with you, but a little bit literal. “You could use a good cry” or “laugh a little” are both extremely freeing practices.
Did you know that with one good laugh, you could get a good cry and an amazing bout of laughter?
In life there will always be challenging circumstances. Things that go unplanned. Things that go awry. But that shouldn’t deter you from your overall happiness. Realizing nothing will ever be “perfect” and everything doesn’t go according to your plans, is a way to alleviate stress. There will always be something that is not within our control, we can either get real serious about it or let it go. Through faith, or fate, in the stars, whatever you believe. It will be, what it was meant to be. So why stress about it?
It can be very frustrating, but set it aside for now, put it down, and do something fun, silly, watch a funny movie! Laugh at yourself, through your pain, or because your happy. Read knock knock jokes. Think back a humorous time in your life, a time where you felt the world was crashing in. Guess what? OMG, you made it through. If you made it through then, guess what? You’ll make it through again! If you can’t laugh, there’s always silly and fun Snapchat filters!
